Terms
Terms of use
Effective 8 September 2026 · plain language on purpose — every section is binding
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and the operator of oohroll ("oohroll", "we") for the oohroll iOS app, the website at oohroll.com, public galleries, and everything else we run under the oohroll name (together, the "service"). By installing the app, creating an account, joining an event, or opening a gallery link you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
oohroll gives event guests a limited roll of disposable-camera-style shots that stay hidden until the host publishes them into one shared gallery. Hosts create events; guests shoot in them.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 16 to create a host account. Guests under 16 may take part only with a parent or guardian's permission, and a host who invites minors is responsible for having it. If you use oohroll for a company or client, you confirm you can bind them to these terms.
3. Your photos stay yours
You keep every right you have in the photos you take. We claim no ownership of them, ever. To run the service we need a licence from you, so by shooting in an event you grant oohroll a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process (develop the film look, make thumbnails, package downloads), transmit, and display your photos within the service, and to let the host and the event's guests view, download, and share them as the service allows — including through a public gallery link if the host turns one on. Guests joining an event accept this on the join screen; that consent is recorded with a timestamp.
The licence ends when the photo is deleted, except for backup copies (purged within about 30 days) and copies other people already downloaded while it was published, which we can't recall. We will never use your photos for advertising, to train machine-learning models, or for anything outside running and supporting the service without asking you first.
You promise that you have the right to share what you shoot, and that the people in your photos are okay with them being shared with the event. You, not oohroll, are responsible for that.
4. Hosting an event
The event is yours: you decide when it closes, what gets published, whether a public gallery link exists, and who's blocked. That makes you responsible for it. In particular you agree to:
- tell your guests, before or as they join, that their photos will be shared with the event;
- not publish anything the people in it wouldn't reasonably want published, and take it down if they ask;
- treat a public gallery link as public — anyone who has it can view and download the gallery until you disable or rotate it;
- comply with the privacy and photography laws that apply where you and your guests are. For your guests' photos and names you act as the data controller and oohroll processes them on your behalf under these terms and the privacy policy.
Deleting an event, or your account, permanently removes its photos from the service for everyone. We can't undo that, so download what you want to keep first.
5. Joining as a guest
You join with just a name — no account. Until the host publishes, nobody (including you) sees your shots. You can remove any of your own photos at any time, before or after publishing, from the app. The host controls everything else about the event, including whether it's published at all. Personal rolls shot outside an event never leave your phone.
6. oohroll's own work
Everything that is oohroll rather than your photos — the app, the website, the code, the design, the film looks and the way they're rendered, the name "oohroll", the logo, and all related trademarks and copyrights — belongs to oohroll's operator and is protected by intellectual-property law. We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app and website as intended, and nothing more. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or rent any part of the service; reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the film processing; scrape or bulk-download content you're not a party to; remove our notices; or use the oohroll name or look in a way that suggests we endorse you. All rights we don't expressly grant are reserved.
If you send us ideas, feedback, or suggestions, we may use them freely, without obligation or credit — but thank you, they genuinely shape the product.
7. Don't misuse it
You agree not to:
- upload anything unlawful, sexual involving minors, hateful, or that infringes someone else's rights or privacy;
- harass, threaten, or impersonate other guests or hosts;
- join events you weren't invited to, guess event codes or gallery links, or share links to get around a host's controls;
- probe, overload, attack, or interfere with the service, or access it with automated tools other than the official app;
- use the service for spam, advertising, or anything commercial we haven't agreed to.
8. Removal, suspension, ending
We may remove content, block a guest, suspend or close an event or account, or limit access — immediately and without notice if we think it's needed to protect people, the service, or ourselves, or to comply with the law. We'll tell you why when we reasonably can. You can stop using oohroll any time; deleting your account deletes your data as described in the privacy policy. Sections 3, 6, and 10 to 15 survive the end of this agreement.
9. Changes, availability, pricing
oohroll is a small, evolving product. We may add, change, or remove features, set limits (shots per roll, guests per event, storage), or discontinue the service. We'll give reasonable notice of anything that removes access to your photos. If we introduce paid features, the price and what it buys are shown before you pay; revealing and downloading an event's photos will not be put behind a paywall after the event has been shot. Any purchase through the App Store is also governed by Apple's terms.
10. No warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Phones drop, venues have bad wifi, storage providers have incidents: keep your own copies of photos you can't afford to lose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, oohroll and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost photos, data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities, arising from or related to the service — however caused, even if we were told it could happen. Our total liability for all claims together is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 50 euros. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or the statutory rights you have as a consumer where you live.
12. Your responsibility to us
If a third party brings a claim against oohroll or its operator because of content you uploaded or published, an event you hosted, or your breach of these terms or the law, you agree to cover the resulting losses, costs, and reasonable legal fees. We'll tell you promptly and let you take over the defence if you want to.
13. Copyright and takedown requests
If you believe content in oohroll infringes your copyright or privacy, email [email protected] with the gallery or event link, what the content is, why it's infringing, and how to reach you. We act on legitimate requests quickly, usually by removing the content and telling the host. We may also close the account of anyone who repeatedly infringes.
14. Third parties and the App Store
The service relies on providers such as Apple (App Store, push notifications, Sign in with Apple), Google (sign-in), and infrastructure and email providers named in the privacy policy. We're not responsible for their services or outages. For the iOS app, these terms are between you and oohroll, not Apple: Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, isn't responsible for any claim relating to the app, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you. You confirm you're not in a country under an embargo and aren't on any prohibited parties list.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the country where oohroll's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live still apply and you may bring claims there. Before going to court, please email us: most problems are fixed in a day. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us; we may assign them as part of a transfer of the service, you may not assign them.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version always lives at this address and the effective date at the top changes when we do. For changes that materially reduce your rights we'll show a notice in the app or on the site at least 14 days before they take effect; other changes apply from the date posted. Continuing to use oohroll after the effective date means you accept the new terms; if you don't, stop using the service and delete your account before they apply.
